About Chris

Chris

Longtime San Diego musician, Christopher Cook has a wealth of experience as musician, liturgist and spiritual director. Education at the University of Tulsa under the direction of noted Episcopal composer/director, Thomas Matthews, provided a strong foundation in the worship traditions of the church. Since coming to the West Coast, Chris has ventured beyond the confines of tradition seeking to learn how liturgy interacts with the needs of people in a changing society. Study in depth psychology, comparative mythology and a variety of Asian religions give added dimension to his work within the local parish.

Over the past thirty years, Christopher has served in Presbyterian, Episcopal, United Methodist, Lutheran (ELCA), Unitarian-Universalist, Catholic and Disciples of Christ churches. He has served a variety of congregations who have sought his expertise in liturgical renewal. His work with these congregations has frequently resulted in music department reorganization and designed to meet the worship needs of the congregation's growth plans.
